My name is Joe Davis from Melbourne, Florida. I am a long time friend of the late Bill Pinkney. Bill recruited me in 1964-65 to join his group after the retirement of Gerhart Thraser and Bobby Hollis. Biill had also hired a group from Atlanta Ga. ( Benny Anderson and The Tears ) to make up the remaining group. I am not mentioned in any of the Original Drifters Historical Overviews, but I can authenticate my invollvement with the group. My reason for this message is to say that I am trying to spread Beach Music at every one of shows. My show's theme is "A TRIBUTE TO THE ORIGINAL DRIFTERS". I was the last person to see and talk to my dear friend, Bill in his hotel room on July 4th 2007 at the Daytona Beach Hilton. I want you to know that I will continue in my efforts to keep Beach Music alive whether or not anyone know of my history with the Original Drifters.

Hi Butch, I really enjoyed talking with you tonight. This site is just outstanding. It sure is great to get to know you personally. Again, many thanks for all you did for a great many people when Ronnie Gittens passed away. I will tell Johnny B. & Kyle Beam hello from you & you think they are a couple of nuts(Just kidding). Butch, I listened to your radio show on 105.3 FM today on my way back from the beach. Great show man!! I liked that version of "Would I Lie To You" by Donnie Osmond. I've never heard that. Happy New Year!! Brian Brewer Weekend Beach Party WQFS 90.9 FM - Greensboro NC
